Description | Indenture between Rev James Whitehall, Vicar of Enfield ,William Garrett, John Pigott and John Hammond churchwardens and Thomas Marsh eldest son of Richard Marsh deceased. Whereas by a faculty dated 1689 Richard Marsh his grandfather had obtained the right to hold a pew 7' X 3' his father obtained an additional piece of ground under the pulpit to enlarge the family pew until 1736 when the readers and clerks desk in the church had become very much decayed and under necessity to be rebuilt by which the doorway into the pew was some way obstructed. Thomas Marsh had sued the churchwardens for rebuilding the desks without licence. In return for abandoning the suit he is granted a pew near the little south door. |
