Description.The board oversaw the fever hospital at Worlds End, Winchmore Hill, the cost of which was borne by the two councils in the ratio of the populations of the boroughs. The board was made up from borough councillors., The board met monthly and as required. The meetings were open to the local press. The hospital treated fever patients by isolation and disinfection: Scarlet fever, Enteric fever, Diphtheria, Measles and other. Normal patient numbers say 100 and it had had empty wards to cope with outbreaks.It co-operated with other fever hospitals during epidemics. Many patients were children, taken home when they had ceased to be infectious. It had about 45 staff, medical, nursing, cleaning and building. The mortality rate went up and down, 2 per month was typical. Each death was reported by name and cause. The Board dealt with: Complaints by patients, Overseeing the costs of running the hospital, Overseeing the hospital statistics, Receiving reports from the Medical Superintendent and Matron, Approved suppliers. Includes: general admin, costings, letters, patient numbers and reports.
