The Minute Book contains a record of the meetings held by the wardens of this post from Sept 11th 1939 to Dec 20th 1943. There were no meeting s recorded after Nov 5th 1940 until 1942. *There were no reports in the minutes of the deaths and serious injuries sustained by D29 ARP wardens after a bomb dropped on the Post on Nov 16th 1940.
Admin HistoryMeetings were held monthly from Jan 15th 1940 until July 30th 1940.There was a meeting on Nov 5th 1940 a couple of months after the start of the Blitz period began at the beginning of Sept 1940. No more meetings were recorded then until Jan 8th 1942. Five more meetings were held during the remainder of 1942 and three meeting s in 1943. The main business of the meeting s was to enable the Post Warden to communicate information to the wardens. It is not clear whether all wardens always attended the meetings. An important issue at many meetings was the rota of duties for the wardens. These seemed to cause problems from time to time and the boundaries of the eight hour shift times were changed more than once. Consideration had to be given to those wardens who were volunteers and also had a full-time job. Light Patrols (inspecting one's sector for black-out control) featured in some reports as they were often not carried out diligently enough. Details of training for wardens were communicated eg. Training in the use of stirrup pumps, first aid and general training for wardens. A number of women were employed as wardens. Wardens had to pay a subscription of 3d for the upkeep of the post. This barely covered the cost of rations and milk. Various social events were organised by the Post. Eg. Socials, table tennis, billiards and darts competitions.
